The Concert will take place on Saturday , December 17 at 9 p.m. at the Parish of St. James the Greater in Gavi
Snowy rows of vines and the Fortress in the background: this is the image of "Christmas in the Lands of Gavi," the Concert that will fill the Parish of San Giacomo Maggiore in Gavi with notes on Saturday, Dec. 17. The Cameristi of the Classical Orchestra of Alessandria, with Maestro Luciano Girardengo, will perform the music of Haendel, Cajkovsky, Rachel, Piazzolla, Ramirez, Menken, Branduardi, Sakamoto, and Frisina introduced by Iudica Dameri, president of the Libarna Arteventi Association: a journey into the sounds of composers and nations as diverse and distant as Ireland, Argentina, and Germany.
Maurizio Montobbio, president of the Consorzio Tutela del Gavi comments on the event this way, "After a year spent promoting Gavi in Rome, London, New York, Antwerp, we wanted to conclude this 2022 experience-which will continue next year with new stages-through an event in which music was fusion, immersion and internationality. Not a "classical" choice with the songs that usually accompany Christmas, but a world tour through the notes of the stave, almost a visual synthesis that refers to the bare vineyards in winter, and a tribute to the beauty of this corner of Piedmont and to the excellences - Gavi, precisely - that make it internationally known and renowned. "
The event, organized by the Terre del Gavi networking, of which the Consorzio Tutela del Gavi, Libarna Arteventi, the Amici del Forte e di Gavi and the Ente Aree Protette dell'Appennino Piemontese (Piedmont Apennine Protected Areas Authority) are members, with the support of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria, is the first in a series of initiatives that will be carried out by this group, which aims at tourism, cultural and food and wine development to give greater visibility and usability to the area in favor of new economic growth and a better quality of life for those who live in these places.
The concert will be preceded at 6 p.m. in the Council Chamber of the City of Gavi by the presentation of the book "History of a Violated Community. Via Porro and the Morandi Bridge" edited by Ennio Guerci and Franco Ravera, published by Ferrari Editore, which collects the testimonies of the hundreds of people affected by the collapse.
This renews the solidarity bond between the Consortium for the Protection of Gavi, the city of Gavi and the Morandi Bridge Association, which dates back to the aftermath of the tragedy, in the desire not to forget and through this collage of voices to honor the memory of the dramatic event.
The restoration of the painting depicting benefactor "Giuseppe Mazzarello" signed by Santo Bertelli, a renowned painter and multifaceted artist of the second half of the 19th century, will also be presented on the occasion.
