An evening-event organized by the Consortium for the Protection of Gavi with more than 70 labels
Gavi, the Piedmontese, is historically the "countryside" of the Genovese, the buen retiro of the great noble families. The land that produces one of the most sought-after Italian white wines abroad, Gavi DOCG, is nestled between Liguria and Lombardy, thirty kilometers from the Ligurian coast. It is a land that smells of Liguria, the fast clouds and the pure, salty and intoxicating sea wind.
On Monday, June 12, the Consortium for the Protection of Gavi brings the scents and flavors of the "sister" land of Piedmont back to the heart of Genoa at the Imperial Palace in Piazza Campetto. From 7 p.m., the Great Piedmontese White presents itself to the public, the trade press, Horeca operators and industry experts through the new 2016 vintage, the results achieved, current projects and future prospects of the national and international market.
Tasting 4 types of Gavi - Fermo, Frizzante, Riserva and Spumante Metodo Classico - in a sampling of the 2016, 2015 and 2014 vintages. From 8 p.m. until 11 p.m., more than 70 labels from the denomination are presented to journalists and Horeca operators. People will be able to participate in the Focaccia Gaviese VS Focaccia Genovese challenge, taste Prosciutto Crudo di Cuneo PDO and discover the Fried Anchovies & Gavi pairing.
Great protagonist of the evening, however, is the 2016 vintage of Great White Piedmont, one of the best in recent years, continuing the positive trend that accompanies the quality of Gavi. According to the experts who have already had the pleasure of tasting it, in the glass the Gavi DOCG 2016 is intense and elegant, a clear structure can be perceived in the mouth, the warm alcoholic note, in excellent balance with the acidic, fresh aspect and the typical savoriness of Cortese.
