The Great White of Piedmont

Gavi DOCG is made entirely of Cortese grapes grown in Bosio, Capriata d'Orba, Carrosio, Francavilla Bisio, Gavi, Novi Ligure, Parodi Ligure, Pasturana, San Cristoforo, Serravalle Scrivia and Tassarolo, the eleven municipalities under the Designation.

Gavi has quite a faint straw colour with greenish reflections, a delicate scent with hints of fresh fruit and white flowers, as well as citrus and bitter almond notes, enriched by complexity and ageing mineral aromas; it has a dry and full taste that is pleasantly cool, harmonious, sophisticated and refined.

The Reserva varieties, as well as fruity scents, have a wide nose and a fuller and richer mouth; a long-lasting white wine that preserves its freshness but is distinguished by tertiary aromas that make it comparable to the world's best wines.

Considered to be the white counterpart of Barolo, the Great White of Piedmont comes from a historic part of the world with unique geological and environmental features.

The combination of the Ligurian Sea breeze and the Apennine snow make this particular corner of Piedmont so special. The cold winters and hot, airy summers, the sloping hills and exposure as well as the marly, chalky and clay-rich earth all create the Great White Piedmont. These are the features of a terroir that we find in every glass of Gavi.
